a. Solar Inserts are produced from metalized polyester film that has high radiant heat reflective properties.
a. No we do not manufacture our solar inserts as to do this would require a massive investment in specialized equipment to produce the metalized polyester film. However, we work very closely with our chosen manufacturer in the development of our solar inserts. Polysert‘s metalized film is manufactured to our specification in the USA utilizing the latest technology and production techniques. Our film is then sent to the UK for processing by our converters who emboss and slit the film to produce the final product, the Polysert solar insert.
a. Yes we have Solarshield and Ultrashield solar inserts. Solarshield inserts are the original insert. They are manufactured using only the highest quality Biaxially Oriented PET film. Solarshield inserts are metalized using the less expensive vapour method of deposition. This is where the metal is heated to a high temperature and evaporated onto the surface of the polyester film.
b. Ultrashield is our latest addition. Through our continued research and development and our commitment to providing our customers with the best product on the market, we have produced the Ultrashield solar insert. Ultrashield solar inserts are manufactured using only the highest quality Biaxially Oriented PET film the same as Solarshield. This, though, is where the similarity ends. Ultrashield inserts are manufactured using the latest sputtering metallisation techniques. Sputter coating provides a superior even coating of aluminium particles by embedding them one atom at a time in a precise and controlled manner into the polyester film. This enables us to enhance and improve the visual quality and colour stability of the inserts. We have also enhanced the UV protection offered by providing a UV barrier on both sides of the film. As a result of this process Ultrashield solar inserts are not susceptible to demetallisation which is the cause of delamination or colour fading.
a. The only reason that solar film is embossed is to make installation easier. We tested different styles of embossing on our solar film and used the most effective pattern to emboss our film. This specific style has given our solar inserts greater flexibility and less surface contact making installation easier than ever.
a. Polysert solar inserts are the most effective way to cool your conservatory in the summer and retain the heat in the winter. They are less than half the price of good quality blinds and once installed are maintenance free. At Polysert we aim to provide our customers with a quality product accompanied by an efficient and professional service.
a. The technology was originally developed in the USA back in the thirties. Since then it has proved to be the most effective material produced to reduce solar heat gain and has been used all over the world. The idea of using this technology in polycarbonate roofs for conservatory cooling and glare reduction was introduced over a decade ago. Polysert solar inserts are also the most effective product to reduce heat loss through your polycarbonate roof, making your conservatory heating far more effective in winter.
a. You will experience a substantial fall in the temperature build up in your conservatory. In high summer you may well experience a drop in temperature by up to 40 degrees. You can expect it to be very similar to the external temperature, although this may vary slightly according to the aspect and style of conservatory.
a. Solar Inserts help to reduce heat loss through the roof of your conservatory by up to 25%. Ultrashield solar inserts work in such a way that they reflect the radiant heat, which would normally be lost through the roof, back into the room. This causes the ambient temperature in your conservatory to improve, enabling you to reduce your conservatory heating bills.
a. Ultrashield solar inserts are guaranteed for the lifetime of the polycarbonate roof into which they are installed. The lifetime for a new polycarbonate roof is typically 20 years.
b. Solarshield solar inserts are guaranteed for 15 years.
a. At Polysert our new Ultrashield solar inserts are manufactured to our exact specification. We have combined the highest quality biaxially oriented polyester film with the latest sputtering techniques. We firmly believe that we have produced the best solar insert on the market. Ultrashield inserts are not susceptible to oxidization, corrosion or UV bleaching. Polysert look to provide a personal and efficient service to all our customers. We believe that the true values of honesty and integrity should be at the very heart of any business.
b. Ultrashield solar inserts have been tested to ASTM standards; a worldwide certification for quality (www.astm.org). We supply both trade and retail and pride ourselves on being able to meet all our customers’ individual needs.
a. Ultrashield Solar Inserts are used by all the major polycarbonate manufacturers in the UK. They factory fit Ultrashield to their polycarbonate for use by the conservatory industry.Solar Inserts improve the performance of the roof. All these manufacturers maintain their guarantees for their polycarbonate when fitted with Ultrashield Solar Inserts.
a. As long as you can gain access to the ends of all the panels with a pair of steps and have no roof vents then installation is a simple process. Just follow the installation instructions provided.
b. If you cannot gain access to all the panels i.e. your panel runs into a valley or gutter then you will need to remove the panel. If roof vents are present then the panel will need to be removed and the vent taken apart. We suggest that if you are not fairly competent at DIY then you may wish to consider having one of our technicians carry out the installation for you.
a. We have approved installers throughout most of the UK. Please contact us if you would like a quotation on or email richard@polysert.co.uk
a. At Polysert we stock 5 different colours, silver, silver/blue, silver/green, silver/gold and gold/gold.
a. You will lose a little light, but this will be far less than from any other form of solar control. If maximum light is important then choose the silver insert as this is the most transparent. The ambient light loss from silver is typically 5%.
